So Long Dear Jellyfish

We wanted to get this out before the end of May, so we're glad we were able to. Thus completes volume 7 and the available chapters we have for Kuragehime until volume 8 comes out. We appreciate every one of the commentators who said they would wait for our releases, since we want to give the best quality possible for this wonderful series. Be sure to spread the word about Kuragehime even more!

Also, we thought we would mention that we do have a new project lined up to work on once we're done with Usotsuki Lily volume 4 next week. However, we may not work on it immediately after, so it might not see its first release for a few weeks. All we can say about it right now is that it's not a gender bender work, but we hope readers will love it all the same. We'll probably announce the series next week when the last release from Usotsuki Lily volume 4 comes out.

Cross-dressing in December...in May!

And here's chapter 25 of Usotsuki Lily, which is slightly longer than the usual length, and is slightly more interesting than the last few chapters. The color black and white two-page spread actually looks pretty good in the thumbnail above, though it still looks kinda grainy in the full view. This sucks because it seems the scanner has trouble handling the tones on these sorts of pages, as you may have noticed. After a recent check on Shueisha's website, we've found where they keep color versions of these pages as wallpapers here. However, they only list the ones from 2010 and 2011 (but it does go back to the first color spread from chapter 6 shown on the bottom of the page) so they may remove the ones from 2010 eventually.

Chestnuts in a Hat in Autumn...and Cross-dressing

It seems like it's getting harder to write blog entry titles every time an Usotsuki Lily chapter comes out, so don't be surprised if they get stranger. With that said, chapter 24 is out and we've finally finished more than half of volume 4.

Secretive Jellyfish!

We are pleased to release the last main chapter in volume 7, chapter 39 of Kuragehime. It's been a long, fun time working on Kuragehime, catching up to the Japanese releases for the past eight months, but it's also good to get a break from a series from time to time. With that said, the chapter title comes from the 2009 Argentine film The Secret in Their Eyes. Enjoy!

Jellyfish Spaghetti!

Nearing the end of the volume, here's chapter 38 of Kuragehime. The chapter title comes from the 2007 Spanish-Mexican film The Orphanage. The chapter's original title is Eien no Kodomotachi (Eternal/Immortal Children), which is what the film is known as in Japan.

As mentioned in the previous post, we will not be working on the magazine scans for either Kuragehime or Usotsuki Lily. The main reason is the redundancy factor, since we'd have to release the chapters again when the future volumes come out, and going through and scanning, cleaning and redrawing all those pages again is something we'd like to avoid. As popular as this series is, we wouldn't be surprised if another group scanlates the magazine scans. Volume 8 is due out in the summer, probably August, or mid-September. Currently, the chapters in the magazine goes up to 42, so we're not that far behind.

To commemorate the last main chapter in volume 7, we'll be releasing it next instead of Usotsuki Lily ch. 24, but in exchange Usotsuki Lily chapters 24 and 25 will be released back-to-back, followed by the bonus material in volume 7 of Kuragehime.

Large Flowers and Pumpkin Heads

Usotsuki Lily chapter 23 is done. Nothing much else to say other than that it's a pretty standard chapter.

Extra! Extra! Read All About It: Jellyfish and Cross-dressing!

It took a little longer than anticipated, but here's chapter 37 of Kuragehime, thus reaching the middle of the volume. This also marks our 75th release. There's only two main chapters left in the volume, and then no more until volume 8 comes out (which will probably be in August). The chapter title comes from the TV drama Gossip Girl.

High Cross-dressing Fashion!

And here we go with Usotsuki Lily chapter 22. As is often the case in this manga, Ayumi Komura includes color pages, though this is the first time they're included in the middle of the chapter. However, as always, they're printed in black and white here, as opposed to in color when they were printed in the magazine. It's a shame that Shueisha can't print the color pages in the volumes, especially for this chapter because they were in 3-D (as noted on the author's bonus page).

A Friday the 13th Clockwork Jellyfish!

Whoever said Friday the 13th was unlucky? We are happy to present chapter 36 of Kuragehime, right after it seems Blogger had a few problems to sort out. It's good to see the last post was restored, though some of the comments are still missing. Well anyway, this is a great chapter as always. The chapter title comes from the 1971 film A Clockwork Orange, which is based on the novel of the same name. Also, it seems the anime is getting a physical release in 2012 on BD and DVD. Hopefully they'll also include the Kuragehime Heroes shorts.

Swimsuits and Strawberries and Cross-dressing! Oh My!

Finally we get back on track with Usotsuki Lily with the start of volume 4, which was just released about two weeks ago. The manga is still ongoing, so after this volume is done, it'll be a while before we release any more chapters.

Jellyfish Showgirls!

Kuragehime chapter 35 is out with the start of volume 7. The manga just keeps on getting better, and it's a shame these chapters may never get animated. The chapter title comes from the 1995 film Showgirls.

Oh, and as a small aside, there are some song titles mentioned in the chapter, and since it wasn't important to list who sings them in the chapter, they're listed here as some useless trivia with their translated and original titles: "Bar / Izakaya" - Nana Kinomi and Hiroshi Itsuki, "Hold Me... / Daite..." - Seiko Matsuda, "Happily Embarrassing All-night Outing / Ureshi Hazukashi Asagaeri" - Dreams Come True, "Third Year Affair / San-nen-me Uwaki" - Hiroshi & Kiiboo, "Love is Over" - Ouyang Fei Fei, "Occasionally Promiscuous / Toki ni wa Shoufu no You ni" - Toshio Kurosawa.

The Art of Jellyfish!

This completes volume 6 of Kuragehime with ch. 3 of the Kuragehime Heroes bonus manga, and the usual afterword from the author (which is as amusing and surprising as ever). To think just seven months ago we started this manga, and we've come so far, thus completing our tenth volume overall. But there's still a lot of work left, with Kuragehime volume 7 and Usotsuki Lily volume 4 coming up, as well as our collaborations with WOW!scans, which will probably be released sometime in June.

Mmm...Jellyfish Pizza!

Chapter 34 of Kuragehime is the last main chapter from volume 6, with only about 10 pages of bonus extras left to round out the volume. The chapter title comes from the 2003 film Party Monster.

Honest Cross-dressing!

This is the last release from volume 0 of Usotsuki Lily, a one-shot called Honest about how En and Naota became friends. If you like Naota, you'll enjoy this chapter, though it's the shortest of the four one-shots in the volume. We'll start on Usotsuki Lily volume 4 after Kuragehime volume 6 is done.

French Dolls and Bond Girls

It took a little longer than expected, but here's chapter 33 of Kuragehime. It's a shame that there's only 5 main chapters per volume now (as opposed to 6 in previous volumes), because now there's less story content per volume. Volume 7 is the same way, btw, and we do have the volume and will be starting on it right after finishing volume 6, though of course in conjunction with volume 4 of Usotsuki Lily. The chapter title comes from the second James Bond film From Russia with Love.
