Cross-dressing Makes the World a Little Smaller!

As a surprise release and our last of 2014, here are chapters 18 and 19 of Himegoto from the recent Comic Rex. We didn't expect this to arrive until later this week, so we were surprised to see the raws for it arrive much sooner than we thought. The next Himegoto won't be out until late January, which will be the 50th Himegoto chapter we will have done.

Thus brings to an end 2014, for us anyway. This was a pretty big year for us. Himegoto got an anime; Usolily came to an end after four glorious years; we got a ton of the remaining Josou Shounen one-shots out; and we started a few new series (Kyou Kara Yonshimai, Full Dozer and Stop!! Hibari-kun!) as well as completing a few one-volume series (Oto Koi, Nisekoi Boyfriend and Kenjutsu Komachi) plus those one-shots by Ayumi Komura. However, we did also see the end of Waai and Waai Mahalo, though partially because of that, we were able to have a bit of extra time to do the stuff listed above.

Going into 2015, we can confirm that two of our current series will end next year: Sweet Magic Syndrome and Kakukaku Shikajika, both of which only have one volume left to do. It's also likely we'll complete Hibari-kun sometime next year, though we really have no idea when that will be at this point. Kuragehime also has a very likely possibility of ending sometime next year. And 2015 will also see the triumphant return of Shounen Oujo after nearly 2 years of being on hiatus. As for future projects, we'll just have to wait and see what happens, since nothing is set in stone until we actually release something.

So, have a wonderful rest of the year and a lovely new year's eve, and we'll see you all again in 2015 for another great year of gender-bending, cross-dressing, and traps (plus some non-gender bending manga, too, of course).

Cross-dressing Expands Your Horizons!

We said it was short, and that's why here's chapter 4 of Himegoto from the latest issue of Febri. As always, the next issue of Febri won't be out for another 2 months. The next Himegoto release from Rex looks like it won't be released until the first week of January based on the estimate of when it will ship. Now back to more Hibari.

Love is Always Just a Punch Away!

We weren't able to get these out before Christmas was over, but here are chapters 8, 9 and 10 of Stop!! Hibari-kun!. And as fate would have it, today happens to be Boxing Day for our readers from the Commonwealth of Nations (even though the day has nothing to actually do with the sport of boxing, but it's still an interesting coincidence). With this, we're now more than halfway through the first volume.

And also, Febri came a little earlier than expected, so next up will be a short Himegoto chapter before we get back to more Hibari.

Better Late Than Never!

In one of our biggest and momentous releases to date, we have decided to pick up the classic gender bender series Stop!! Hibari-kun! by Hisashi Eguchi! We'd first like to thank an anonymous commenter last month who mentioned the series and made us seriously rethink doing it, and although it is going to amount to a lot of work, and may take us quite a while to complete it, we decided to do it in the end, so here we are now.

If you've never heard of the series, we don't really blame you, since it's over 33 years old! Yes, it started serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump of all magazines on October 19, 1981, which makes today exactly 33 years and two months to the day from when it first appeared in the magazine. This was even long before some of the most famous manga to come out of that magazine even appeared, including Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and more recently One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. So it's been a long time coming for someone to scanlate it, and if anyone was going to do it, I suppose it would be us.

Hibari-kun's story goes like this. On her death bed, Kousaku Sakamoto's mother tells him that after she dies, he should go to Tokyo where he'll be taken care of by her friend Ibari Oozora and his family. Since his father died three years before and with no where else to go, Kousaku decides to go along with his mother's last request. However, he soon discovers that Ibari is the boss of the Oozora Group mob ring. Uneasy about his predicament, he considers leaving, but he has second thoughts when he meets Ibari's four daughters–Tsugumi, Tsubame, Suzume and Hibari–only to find out that Hibari is actually Ibari's only son. Now Kousaku must not only cope with living among mobsters but also with refusing Hibari's advances toward him.

Despite the series being so old, it actually only recently got republished in the first-ever fully complete edition, which also includes several chapters never previously republished in separate volumes over the years. So if ever there was a time to scanlate the manga over the past 33 years, it only really became a worthwhile venture since 2009, so thanks Shogakukan for recompiling this series.

With that said, we are kicking off the series with the first 4 chapters! And as an extra bonus, many of the chapters are in full-color, including chapters 1 and 4 in this release. So please feel free to check it out and see what you think about this blast from the past.

Trust Your Instincts!

Rounding out Josou Shounen v17 Princess Apple Group are two last one-shots, meaning this is now the fifth volume we've completed. The first is Tsuiteru Ko to no Tsukiaikata (How to Date a Girl Who Has It Attached) by Hoppege. Chihiro is suddenly confessed to by her schoolmate Kaoru, only to later discover that Kaoru is actually a cross-dressing guy.

The second is Meguru Complex by Ondi. Meguru is a delinquent who would do anything for his twin sister Megumi. When Megumi gets a cold, Meguru impersonates her and goes to her school to see if her boyfriend Ooizumi is worthy of her.

Now for some news about what's coming up. First of all, the next issue of Febri comes out in a few days, so we'll be working on Himegoto again soon, followed about a week later by another Himegoto when Comic Rex's latest issue is released. Volume 3 of Sweet Magic Syndrome comes out on December 25th. Next month, Kuragehime volume 15 comes out on January 13th, and Kyou Kara Yonshimai volume 3 comes out on January 24th. Bokura no Hentai volume 7 will come out on February 13th.

Like a Bulldozer to the Heart!

The end of one series marks the beginning of another. We just couldn't wait to work on this, so we decided to release chapter 1 of Ayumi Komura's new series, Full Dozer! And it even came with a large color title page. However, even though we've released the first chapter from Margaret, we will not be working from the magazine raws from here on out for a number of reasons (one of the biggest being the money issue, but working from the volumes is simply easier on us). So consider this a sneak peak into the series while we wait for the first volume to be released next April.

In Full Dozer, Mao Manaka is a 15-year-old girl in junior high school who appears to be a refined beauty on the outside, but she's actually an impulsive girl who is very persistent once she has made up her mind to do something, which her childhood friend Ryouma likens to a bulldozer. This personality causes others her age to tend to stay away from her, and Ryouma enjoys the fact that he's basically the only person who can hang around her because he secretly has feelings for Mao.

Ryouma's daily interactions with Mao change one day when she meets Hayato Honjou, a fledgling actor who has had trouble making a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Ryouma quickly notices a change in Mao's demeanor when she starts showing a lot of interest in Hayato's up-and-coming career. Mao soon tells Ryouma that she has feelings for Hayato, and she shows Ryouma how determined she is to get closer to Hayato.

...Must Come to an End

With the release of the last few pages of bonus content from Usotsuki Lily volume 17, the series now officially comes to a close. Included is the Usolily Tribute Manga to commemorate the release of chapter 100, Amber (with a couple of bonus pages associated with it), and the last Afterword Lily containing Komura's final comments for the series.

Usolily had a really good run, and lasted much longer than we originally thought it would when we started it. The series may not have been perfect, but it certainly was unique (and totally unlike anything in Margaret, including Full Dozer), so when series like this end, what is left to fill the void? Will there ever be another series like Usolily? Probably not, but in a way, maybe that's also a good thing, since there are plenty of shoujo manga that are similar, but there is only one Usolily.

Farewell Usolily! You will be missed!

All Good Things...

What more can be said that hasn't been said already? Even before we learned earlier this year that Usotsuki Lily was nearing its end, we would sometimes wonder what we would say when we were about to release the final chapter. But now that we're finally here, there's strangely very little left to say.

The end of this series has left us wanting more Usolily, but I suppose if you feel that way after the end of a series you love, that just shows how much you're going to miss it. But then of course, although there may not be any more Usolily after this, the series will still live on, and will be around for new readers to discover it for years to come. Would we have loved an anime, or even just a one episode OVA? Well of course! But although that never happened for this series, we're still hopeful that someday Ayumi Komura will be honored with an anime of one of her series, something which she wholeheartedly deserves, we feel.

So, although it is sad to see it go, especially since we've been working on it since day one, we feel honored that we had a chance to work on it at just the right time. This leaves only about 25 pages left in the volume until we move it to our completed projects page. We hope that you'll look forward to reading Komura's next work Full Dozer which just started in Margaret yesterday. We also posted some preview art from it on our Twitter account.

And if you want, you can leave any thoughts you have about the series or its ending either in the comments here or on the Usotsuki Lily page. Enjoy!

A Cross-dressing Serenade!

Finally, the time has come for us to work on the last volume of Usotsuki Lily. When we decided to form Hachimitsu Scans over four years ago because of this series, we had barely any experience scanlating, and our earlier releases definitely exemplify this compared to our standards of today, but I guess for even back then, we did a halfway decent job when we submitted the very first chapter for your reading pleasure. Now four years later, we're a little bit older, but a ton more experienced, and we're doing things today that we never would have been capable of doing back then. So if Usolily has taught us anything, it is practice makes perfect, and when you have four years and 18 volumes to work on, you tend to get a lot of practice.

We've never really gone into the various troubles and tribulations related to scanlating in general, simply because we think you, as the reader, shouldn't have to care about that. Being thankful for the work we do and showering us with such wonderful comments is one thing, but we don't believe the reader should really know all that goes into what we do since it's not really important. No, what you care about is the manga we scanlate, and that's just how it should be: complete focus on the manga itself. We always strive to bring as close an experience that the original readers in Japanese have to new readers in English, which is also part of the reason why our normal credits page (the honey jar and spoon) doesn't have any names and hasn't changed since we started scanlating. It's not that we don't think that credit shouldn't be given where credit is due, especially with this hobby, just that we never thought it necessary to do for our group.

Anyway, none of that's really important. What we're here for today is to release chapters 103 and 104 of Usotsuki Lily, meaning that there is only a single chapter left! And what's more, because the publisher also included Komura's Amber one-shot in this volume, we've already finished about half of volume 17. The 105th chapter is a whopping 65 pages to end the series, so it will take a little bit extra time to release it, but regardless, the moment you've all been waiting for, the end of Usolily, is finally right around the corner, and we couldn't be happier to have made it all this way as we approach the epic conclusion.
