A Cross-dressing Serenade!

Finally, the time has come for us to work on the last volume of Usotsuki Lily. When we decided to form Hachimitsu Scans over four years ago because of this series, we had barely any experience scanlating, and our earlier releases definitely exemplify this compared to our standards of today, but I guess for even back then, we did a halfway decent job when we submitted the very first chapter for your reading pleasure. Now four years later, we're a little bit older, but a ton more experienced, and we're doing things today that we never would have been capable of doing back then. So if Usolily has taught us anything, it is practice makes perfect, and when you have four years and 18 volumes to work on, you tend to get a lot of practice.

We've never really gone into the various troubles and tribulations related to scanlating in general, simply because we think you, as the reader, shouldn't have to care about that. Being thankful for the work we do and showering us with such wonderful comments is one thing, but we don't believe the reader should really know all that goes into what we do since it's not really important. No, what you care about is the manga we scanlate, and that's just how it should be: complete focus on the manga itself. We always strive to bring as close an experience that the original readers in Japanese have to new readers in English, which is also part of the reason why our normal credits page (the honey jar and spoon) doesn't have any names and hasn't changed since we started scanlating. It's not that we don't think that credit shouldn't be given where credit is due, especially with this hobby, just that we never thought it necessary to do for our group.

Anyway, none of that's really important. What we're here for today is to release chapters 103 and 104 of Usotsuki Lily, meaning that there is only a single chapter left! And what's more, because the publisher also included Komura's Amber one-shot in this volume, we've already finished about half of volume 17. The 105th chapter is a whopping 65 pages to end the series, so it will take a little bit extra time to release it, but regardless, the moment you've all been waiting for, the end of Usolily, is finally right around the corner, and we couldn't be happier to have made it all this way as we approach the epic conclusion.

  1. Thank you, hachimitsu! For always working so hard and, like you say, keeping the focus on the manga itself.

    But I just can't believe the end is almost here!
    It's strange to say after 18 volumes, but there are still lots of these characters I would have liked to see more of, or read more about.
    And judging from the page count, there's no bonus chapter~~ ;_;

    I'll look forward to it, THE GRANDE FINALE!

  3. Thanks as always for your hard work! It's been cool to watch Hachimitsu improve as a scanning group alongside Komura's improvement as an artist and writer.

  5. I DO think it's important that readers sometimes consider how much effort it takes to scanlate.
    Scanlation can be a wonderful hobby when you are working on a title you like with people you like, but it can quickly become tedious when some readers speak out of place and take things for granted.
    I'm not saying scanlators should be worshipped, but a little consideration for them is in place.
    Therefore: Thank you! And keep up the good work!

    I'm usually not into Gender-bender or cross-dressing, but I found myself strangely attracted to this series. Prolly because there is actual romance development unlike in shoujos.
    It's sad that it'll end, but all good titles need an ending without dragging it on unnecessarily.
    Thanks.
