Cross-dressing Makes the World a Little Smaller!

As a surprise release and our last of 2014, here are chapters 18 and 19 of Himegoto from the recent Comic Rex. We didn't expect this to arrive until later this week, so we were surprised to see the raws for it arrive much sooner than we thought. The next Himegoto won't be out until late January, which will be the 50th Himegoto chapter we will have done.

Thus brings to an end 2014, for us anyway. This was a pretty big year for us. Himegoto got an anime; Usolily came to an end after four glorious years; we got a ton of the remaining Josou Shounen one-shots out; and we started a few new series (Kyou Kara Yonshimai, Full Dozer and Stop!! Hibari-kun!) as well as completing a few one-volume series (Oto Koi, Nisekoi Boyfriend and Kenjutsu Komachi) plus those one-shots by Ayumi Komura. However, we did also see the end of Waai and Waai Mahalo, though partially because of that, we were able to have a bit of extra time to do the stuff listed above.

Going into 2015, we can confirm that two of our current series will end next year: Sweet Magic Syndrome and Kakukaku Shikajika, both of which only have one volume left to do. It's also likely we'll complete Hibari-kun sometime next year, though we really have no idea when that will be at this point. Kuragehime also has a very likely possibility of ending sometime next year. And 2015 will also see the triumphant return of Shounen Oujo after nearly 2 years of being on hiatus. As for future projects, we'll just have to wait and see what happens, since nothing is set in stone until we actually release something.

So, have a wonderful rest of the year and a lovely new year's eve, and we'll see you all again in 2015 for another great year of gender-bending, cross-dressing, and traps (plus some non-gender bending manga, too, of course).

Cross-dressing Expands Your Horizons!

We said it was short, and that's why here's chapter 4 of Himegoto from the latest issue of Febri. As always, the next issue of Febri won't be out for another 2 months. The next Himegoto release from Rex looks like it won't be released until the first week of January based on the estimate of when it will ship. Now back to more Hibari.

Love is Always Just a Punch Away!

We weren't able to get these out before Christmas was over, but here are chapters 8, 9 and 10 of Stop!! Hibari-kun!. And as fate would have it, today happens to be Boxing Day for our readers from the Commonwealth of Nations (even though the day has nothing to actually do with the sport of boxing, but it's still an interesting coincidence). With this, we're now more than halfway through the first volume.

And also, Febri came a little earlier than expected, so next up will be a short Himegoto chapter before we get back to more Hibari.

Better Late Than Never!

In one of our biggest and momentous releases to date, we have decided to pick up the classic gender bender series Stop!! Hibari-kun! by Hisashi Eguchi! We'd first like to thank an anonymous commenter last month who mentioned the series and made us seriously rethink doing it, and although it is going to amount to a lot of work, and may take us quite a while to complete it, we decided to do it in the end, so here we are now.

If you've never heard of the series, we don't really blame you, since it's over 33 years old! Yes, it started serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump of all magazines on October 19, 1981, which makes today exactly 33 years and two months to the day from when it first appeared in the magazine. This was even long before some of the most famous manga to come out of that magazine even appeared, including Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and more recently One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. So it's been a long time coming for someone to scanlate it, and if anyone was going to do it, I suppose it would be us.

Hibari-kun's story goes like this. On her death bed, Kousaku Sakamoto's mother tells him that after she dies, he should go to Tokyo where he'll be taken care of by her friend Ibari Oozora and his family. Since his father died three years before and with no where else to go, Kousaku decides to go along with his mother's last request. However, he soon discovers that Ibari is the boss of the Oozora Group mob ring. Uneasy about his predicament, he considers leaving, but he has second thoughts when he meets Ibari's four daughters–Tsugumi, Tsubame, Suzume and Hibari–only to find out that Hibari is actually Ibari's only son. Now Kousaku must not only cope with living among mobsters but also with refusing Hibari's advances toward him.

Despite the series being so old, it actually only recently got republished in the first-ever fully complete edition, which also includes several chapters never previously republished in separate volumes over the years. So if ever there was a time to scanlate the manga over the past 33 years, it only really became a worthwhile venture since 2009, so thanks Shogakukan for recompiling this series.

With that said, we are kicking off the series with the first 4 chapters! And as an extra bonus, many of the chapters are in full-color, including chapters 1 and 4 in this release. So please feel free to check it out and see what you think about this blast from the past.

Trust Your Instincts!

Rounding out Josou Shounen v17 Princess Apple Group are two last one-shots, meaning this is now the fifth volume we've completed. The first is Tsuiteru Ko to no Tsukiaikata (How to Date a Girl Who Has It Attached) by Hoppege. Chihiro is suddenly confessed to by her schoolmate Kaoru, only to later discover that Kaoru is actually a cross-dressing guy.

The second is Meguru Complex by Ondi. Meguru is a delinquent who would do anything for his twin sister Megumi. When Megumi gets a cold, Meguru impersonates her and goes to her school to see if her boyfriend Ooizumi is worthy of her.

Now for some news about what's coming up. First of all, the next issue of Febri comes out in a few days, so we'll be working on Himegoto again soon, followed about a week later by another Himegoto when Comic Rex's latest issue is released. Volume 3 of Sweet Magic Syndrome comes out on December 25th. Next month, Kuragehime volume 15 comes out on January 13th, and Kyou Kara Yonshimai volume 3 comes out on January 24th. Bokura no Hentai volume 7 will come out on February 13th.

Like a Bulldozer to the Heart!

The end of one series marks the beginning of another. We just couldn't wait to work on this, so we decided to release chapter 1 of Ayumi Komura's new series, Full Dozer! And it even came with a large color title page. However, even though we've released the first chapter from Margaret, we will not be working from the magazine raws from here on out for a number of reasons (one of the biggest being the money issue, but working from the volumes is simply easier on us). So consider this a sneak peak into the series while we wait for the first volume to be released next April.

In Full Dozer, Mao Manaka is a 15-year-old girl in junior high school who appears to be a refined beauty on the outside, but she's actually an impulsive girl who is very persistent once she has made up her mind to do something, which her childhood friend Ryouma likens to a bulldozer. This personality causes others her age to tend to stay away from her, and Ryouma enjoys the fact that he's basically the only person who can hang around her because he secretly has feelings for Mao.

Ryouma's daily interactions with Mao change one day when she meets Hayato Honjou, a fledgling actor who has had trouble making a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Ryouma quickly notices a change in Mao's demeanor when she starts showing a lot of interest in Hayato's up-and-coming career. Mao soon tells Ryouma that she has feelings for Hayato, and she shows Ryouma how determined she is to get closer to Hayato.

...Must Come to an End

With the release of the last few pages of bonus content from Usotsuki Lily volume 17, the series now officially comes to a close. Included is the Usolily Tribute Manga to commemorate the release of chapter 100, Amber (with a couple of bonus pages associated with it), and the last Afterword Lily containing Komura's final comments for the series.

Usolily had a really good run, and lasted much longer than we originally thought it would when we started it. The series may not have been perfect, but it certainly was unique (and totally unlike anything in Margaret, including Full Dozer), so when series like this end, what is left to fill the void? Will there ever be another series like Usolily? Probably not, but in a way, maybe that's also a good thing, since there are plenty of shoujo manga that are similar, but there is only one Usolily.

Farewell Usolily! You will be missed!

All Good Things...

What more can be said that hasn't been said already? Even before we learned earlier this year that Usotsuki Lily was nearing its end, we would sometimes wonder what we would say when we were about to release the final chapter. But now that we're finally here, there's strangely very little left to say.

The end of this series has left us wanting more Usolily, but I suppose if you feel that way after the end of a series you love, that just shows how much you're going to miss it. But then of course, although there may not be any more Usolily after this, the series will still live on, and will be around for new readers to discover it for years to come. Would we have loved an anime, or even just a one episode OVA? Well of course! But although that never happened for this series, we're still hopeful that someday Ayumi Komura will be honored with an anime of one of her series, something which she wholeheartedly deserves, we feel.

So, although it is sad to see it go, especially since we've been working on it since day one, we feel honored that we had a chance to work on it at just the right time. This leaves only about 25 pages left in the volume until we move it to our completed projects page. We hope that you'll look forward to reading Komura's next work Full Dozer which just started in Margaret yesterday. We also posted some preview art from it on our Twitter account.

And if you want, you can leave any thoughts you have about the series or its ending either in the comments here or on the Usotsuki Lily page. Enjoy!

A Cross-dressing Serenade!

Finally, the time has come for us to work on the last volume of Usotsuki Lily. When we decided to form Hachimitsu Scans over four years ago because of this series, we had barely any experience scanlating, and our earlier releases definitely exemplify this compared to our standards of today, but I guess for even back then, we did a halfway decent job when we submitted the very first chapter for your reading pleasure. Now four years later, we're a little bit older, but a ton more experienced, and we're doing things today that we never would have been capable of doing back then. So if Usolily has taught us anything, it is practice makes perfect, and when you have four years and 18 volumes to work on, you tend to get a lot of practice.

We've never really gone into the various troubles and tribulations related to scanlating in general, simply because we think you, as the reader, shouldn't have to care about that. Being thankful for the work we do and showering us with such wonderful comments is one thing, but we don't believe the reader should really know all that goes into what we do since it's not really important. No, what you care about is the manga we scanlate, and that's just how it should be: complete focus on the manga itself. We always strive to bring as close an experience that the original readers in Japanese have to new readers in English, which is also part of the reason why our normal credits page (the honey jar and spoon) doesn't have any names and hasn't changed since we started scanlating. It's not that we don't think that credit shouldn't be given where credit is due, especially with this hobby, just that we never thought it necessary to do for our group.

Anyway, none of that's really important. What we're here for today is to release chapters 103 and 104 of Usotsuki Lily, meaning that there is only a single chapter left! And what's more, because the publisher also included Komura's Amber one-shot in this volume, we've already finished about half of volume 17. The 105th chapter is a whopping 65 pages to end the series, so it will take a little bit extra time to release it, but regardless, the moment you've all been waiting for, the end of Usolily, is finally right around the corner, and we couldn't be happier to have made it all this way as we approach the epic conclusion.

It's All in the Voice!

Well, here's a bonus chapter of Himegoto from the most recent issue of Comic Rex. We had said before that Usolily was up next, but there are two big reasons why Himegoto got released first: it arrived slightly earlier than expected, and it's very short. So, please enjoy as we turn our attention back to Usolily. The next Himegoto chapter will be from Febri which comes out in mid-December.

You Are Who You Are!

And here are another two one-shots from Josou Shounen v17 Princess Apple Group. The first is Ojou-sama wa Otoko no Ko chapter 2, the last of the continuations from the volume.

The second is Josou no Hajimari (The Start of Cross-dressing) by Tokumaro. Mata is in the art club and he asks his friend Kondou to model for him because he heard he has some experience modeling. However, when Kondou shows up cross-dressing, he reveals that he has experience modeling as a crossplayer.

Next up, the long awaited start of the 17th and final volume of Usotsuki Lily!

You Can't Help Who or What You Love!

Here are the next two one-shots from Josou Shounen v17 Princess Apple Group. The first is Ai-chan Ganbarimasu! (Ai-chan Works Hard At It!) by Yuu Eichi, the author of the Pretty Swimmer one-shot from v01 White Group that we released back in July. Ai enjoys cross-dressing and loves all things cute, so when asked by his friend Takako to help out at her family's daycare center, he gladly accepts. However, he soon discovers that it's not as easy as he thought it would be.

The second one is Itsumo no Futari (The Usual Pair) by Yoshiko Tabuchi. Yuuka is a tall and boyish girl who's in love with her cross-dressing childhood friend Jun.

Dressing Up is Half the Fun!

Since we still have a little bit of time before the last Usolily volume or the next Himegoto chapter comes out, we'll be working on the one-shots from Josou Shounen v17, Princess Apple Group, since we only released the Himegoto extra chapter from it a while back, and as of now, it's the final volume, and we don't know if there will be any more. So, the first one is Misaki-chan to Azami-kun chapter 2, one of the few from this volume that are a continuation of a previous one-shot.

The second one is Kisekae Sensei (Dress-Up Teacher) by Masayu, the author of the previously-released Kawaii Iinchou from v16, Princess Strawberry Group. In Kisekae Sensei, a cram school teacher enjoys cross-dressing, and one of his students named Imoto discovers his secret when he goes outside while cross-dressing one day. In exchange for not telling anyone his secret, he agrees to be her dress-up doll.

Cross-dressing Will Open the Door to Happiness!

If you thought those two chapters of Nisekoi Boyfriend were the end of the story, then you were only half right! That was it for the volume release, but surprisingly, Ataru Yamamoto drew an additional doujin as an epilogue which she released almost exactly one month ago called Henshin Shichau. It's very short, and is non-H. We first learned about it when Yamamoto posted about it on Pixiv, and she's also posted a couple other releases related to Nisekoi Boyfriend, including some color illustrations found here and here.

In addition to that, we also finally got a chance to acquire an old doujin from 2011 by Mizunomoto called Hybrid Boy Returns!, which serves as a bonus story to the two Hybrid Boy one-shots released via the Josou Shounen volumes. As with the other doujin, this is also non-H, but is somewhat ecchi. If you never read the other Hybrid Boy one-shots, you can get them here: [Chapter 1] [Chapter 2].

Come With Me If You Want to Love!

It took us a few days, but we're pleased to announce we're done with all three of the one-shots from Nisekoi Boyfriend's volume. The first is Yomamushi Kareshi to Rokudenashi (A Cowardly Boyfriend and a Good-for-nothing). Keishi is a college student fed up with his mischievous boyfriend's unhealthy attitude towards sex and wants to have a more normal love life.

The second is Kimi to Boku de Chouchou Musubi o (A Ribbon Made of You and Me). Hanao notices that a short guy in his class named Koino is often looking at him, and Hanao suspects that he likes him. Hanao decides to show Koino what he thinks about love.

The third is Usotsuki to Happy End o (A Happy End with a Liar). Keita Hirono is popular among girls for his good looks, and enjoys their attention, but after he gives some advice to Ogata, a loner who spends much of his time reading alone, Keita suddenly finds all the girls gravitating to Ogata. The description of the third one may not sound like a BL story, but there isn't much else that can be said without giving practically the whole story away, so that's essentially the setup.

So with that, we've come to the end of what Ataru Yamamoto has to offer for now. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of her work in the future. And of course, thanks for all the wonderful comments! We're always trying to bring you the very best that manga has to offer.

Honesty is the Key!

After much anticipation, and probably the most comments we've gotten on a post in months (thanks a lot, by the way!), we are pleased to present part 2 of Nisekoi Boyfriend. As mentioned before, there are three other BL one-shots in the same volume, and although they aren't gender bender-related, we are going to do them.

And what's also a very historic day for Hachimitsu Scans, Nisekoi Boyfriend has made it to the top of Baka-Updates' weekly ranking, which we believe is the first time something we've scanlated has reached the No. 1 spot, so thanks for all your support!

Full Moon Rhapsody!

Today, we are happy to present a small project we recently picked up: Nisekoi Boyfriend by up-and-coming BL author Ataru Yamamoto. The manga is actually a two-part story compiled in a volume also containing a few of Yamamoto's other, unrelated one-shots. In Nisekoi Boyfriend, Soutarou Inugami is a shy and reserved high schooler interested in anime and manga. Although content with his lot in life, Soutarou also wouldn't mind having a fateful encounter with a cute girl someday. Lucky for him, he comes home from school one day to find a girl sitting at his doorstep who he's never seen before, but who happens to have the same red earrings as Meguru Satoi, a cool and good-looking guy at his school.

When Opposites Attract!

Finally, here's Amber, the last one-shot by Ayumi Komura. Mio Hasekura is a helpful high school girl who looks after her workaholic mother and others at her school, which has earned her the nickname "Mom" among her classmates. Mio is very fond of her late father who died when she was younger, and hopes to find a guy like him someday. On her way to school one day, she comes across a man collapsed on the side of the road who is very different from her father and Mio helps him out.

The smaller color illustration above is from the preview posted on Margaret's website. Interestingly, we are unsure why Komura called this one-shot "Amber". There's no indication in the story why she gave it this title, so if you have any guesses after reading it, please tell us in the comments.

Getting a chance to work on something other than Usolily (or Kenjutsu Komachi for a time) by Ayumi Komura has been a lot of fun since we get to see other sides of her when she does one-shots like these three, which seems to be pretty rare since most of the time she focuses on her serializations, or at least that seemed to be the case during Usolily's run. Maybe one of these one-shots will get a serialization someday, since remember that Usolily also began as a one-shot. Of the three, Hatsukoi Harinezumi would seem the most likely to get a series, and if so, we'd be very happy about scanlating it. But for now, there's still Full Dozer to look forward to, which begins serialization in about a month.

Also, speaking of Kenjutsu Komachi, we finally got around to doing the bonus content from the volume release and...it's very very small. I'm talking two pages here. Yeah, we expected Komura, who loves adding in tons and tons of bonus content in her Usolily volumes, to include at least an afterword or something, but she only included a few comments at the end of the volume, not counting the comment she did on the cover. So the extras below include the outside and inside covers and the aforementioned whopping two pages, so it may not be much, but it's something, at least.

The Magic of Love!

For the second one-shot by Ayumi Komura, it's Hatsukoi Harinezumi (First Love Hedgehog). Sora Onodera discovers he can use magic one day when he accidentally turns his older brother Riku into a hedgehog. Sora learns that his parents and brother can also use magic, and that he acquired the transformation spell because he's experiencing his first love. Now the only way to put Riku back to normal is to acquire the magic to undo the transformation, which has the condition that he must first get the girl he likes to tell him she likes him back.

As mentioned last time, the color illustrations above are from the previews posted on Margaret's website, first two weeks before the one-shot was published (the girl), and then the day the one-shot was published (the boy). But who is this girl and why doesn't she actually appear in the one-shot? Luckily, Ayumi Komura answered this question in an attached interview. This was what she said:
The storyboard I had originally drawn had a boy as the main character, but when I was drawing the preview illustration, I thought it'd be better to have a girl as the main character since it would appear in Margaret, so I changed it. In the end, while I was drawing it, I thought it might be cuter if the main character was a boy, so I went back to my original decision. I like how he's a cute type of boy I usually don't draw. And this cute sibling love between the older and younger brother is also pretty nice. But well, the cutest one is the hedgehog!!
So there you have it. There's only one one-shot left to do, Amber, which (like the others) we mentioned before on our Twitter account. And also as you may have already heard, Ayumi Komura's new series to debut on December 5 is called Full Dozer. This seems to be a play on "bulldozer", but we'll just have to wait and see what the series is like once it starts serialization. The premise, which involves a love triangle with a childhood friend, might indicate that Komura is trying to go with a manga that's more accessible, although knowing Komura, its bound to be anything but run-of-the-mill. So please check it out when we start on it next year and see if its to your liking.

Cross-dress to Your Heart's Content!

For our last release of the month, we have for you Himegoto chapter 17, perfect for right before Halloween. Interestingly, this is the first time Himegoto has officially made it to chapter 17, since the original serialization in Waai ended at chapter 16. So far, we've done 45 chapters of Himegoto across the various series and two one-shots from Josou Shounen. There are also some extra chapters from the volumes we'll do eventually. Enjoy!

When You've Got a Twin, What More Do You Need?

So, we finally managed to get a chance to work on the three one-shots Ayumi Komura released in Margaret back in August and September, and since we had a choice of the three to start with, we went with the third one, Uno x Uno. We'll also be continuing the trend and do the second one next. All three are 50 pages long, and all have stories very different from each other. If you've been following us on Twitter, we posted the preview illustrations for them that were posted on Margaret's website at the time of their release, so that's where the color illustration above came from (the one-shot itself had no color pages).

As for Uno x Uno, despite Mai and Yuu Shindou being fraternal twins and opposite sexes, they look very similar to each other and are surrounded by people who want them to act more like twins, such as wearing matching outfits or clinging more to each other. Amid this, Mai starts to realize that both of them are starting to change as they start going through puberty.

Up next, we'll release the latest Himegoto chapter, and then go back to the two remaining Komura one-shots.

And this also just happens to be our 555th post.

To Live the Life of a Cross-dresser!

Finally, after working on Usolily volume 16 for almost the entire month of October, here's chapter 11 of Boy's Lily, along with the author's usual afterword. Thus brings to an end the second-to-last volume as we very much impatiently await the release of volume 17 in exactly one month from today. That means we'll be working on it in early December, so we'll finish up Usolily before the year is over.

As a small aside, it would be amazing if Shueisha ever released an Ayumi Komura artbook. She apparently drew over 130 color illustrations for Usolily alone, to say nothing of all the other art she's produced for her other series, so there's definitely enough content for at least one or two books, if not more.

Luckily, Komura will start her new series on December 5th, although we won't know what it's about or even its title until a month from now when a preview of it appears on Margaret's website. We already mentioned before that we plan on working on it no matter what it is, so for the foreseeable future, we'll be continuing to release more of what Komura has to offer.

And speaking of what Komura has to offer, we can finally start on those three 50-page one-shots she released a little while ago. As for our other ongoing projects, none of them are getting new volumes until early next year it seems (aside from Sweet Magic Syndrome v3 which comes out in late December), so we don't have much else to offer in terms of updates. Sadly, Shounen Oujo is still on hiatus, but might reappear soon in Sylph, though there's no way to know when. but as fate would have it, Utako Yukihiro just announced today that she'll be restarting the manga early next year!

And we also just recently passed 2.5 million views to the blog. Thanks for all your support!

For our second release today, here's the third batch of bonus content from Usotsuki Lily v16, chapters 5, 6 and 7 of Boy's Lily. Chapters 5 and 7 are the normal 4-koma format, but chapter 6 is in a normal manga format (except for 1 page) and is twice as long as the others, so enjoy!
