You Can Never Be Too Careful!
Another year has now come and gone, but there is still one last post for 2018, and it's a double Kina Kobayashi release. The first one is the ninth installment of About a Lazy High School Guy Who Woke Up as a Girl One Morning, with also some bonus illustrations included at the end. It's really great that this series has continued this far, and hopefully there will be many more in the future.
The second release is Kobayashi's one-shot Aoi-kun is a Suicidal Girl (♂) (original title: Aoi-kun wa Shinitagari no Onnanoko (♂), 葵くんは死にたがりの女の子(♂)). In the story, a guy gains a younger step-brother named Aoi after his mom remarries, only to discover later that Aoi enjoys cross-dressing. This was originally released in Manga Life Storia back in September, but was only recently posted online, allowing us to now release it. Also, that Niconico Seiga link says in red that if enough people favorite it, that there could be a continuation or even a serialization. As you can see from that link, it's been favorited nearly 10,000 times already, so hopefully we'll be seeing more of this in the future.
2018 was a rather transformative year for us, seeing as how a lot of our projects going into the year either ended (Moyashimon, Kami-sama no Ekohiiki, Ookami Shounen, Shimanami Tasogare, Seito Kaichou desu ga Josou Hajimemashita), or are now very close to ending (Mizutama Honey Boy, Shiomi-chan). And there were also two projects that were completed with one volume (Sore wa Tada no Senpai no Chiko, Otokonoko Doushi Renai Chuu). Of the ones that ended, completing Moyashimon earlier in the year after working on it for about a year was very nice, and it was gratifying to finish a project I had wanted to read and see completed for a long time.
But 2018 was also a pretty good year for new projects, with us picking up 3 gender bender-related series (Bokura wa Mahou Shounen, Fukakai na Boku no Subete o, Giniro no Genders), but also 3 non-gender bender-related series (Nettaigyo wa Yuki ni Kogareru, Madowanai Hoshi, Eden no Otome). Not to mention all of the additional web comics we've picked up this year, mainly from Kina Kobayashi who seems to love cross-dressing as much as we do. But Nettaigyo was the most surprising pick up of the year, since we didn't really expect it to get the large amount of recognition it so rightly deserves so quickly (especially since most of our projects don't really get that much recognition at all), so we weren't really prepared for that at the time, but it's now become one of our all-time favorite projects to date. However, going forward, we are still going focus on gender bender-related series; that is something that will never change.
So now for an update for our ongoing projects. Shiomi-chan's fifth and final volume comes out in 11 days, so we will be working on that very soon. After that, Nettaigyo's next chapter comes out at the end of January, Giniro no Genders v02 comes out in February, Eden no Otome v03 will also probably be out in February, and then Bokura wa Mahou Shounen v02 will probably be out sometime in March or April. April is also when Mizutama Honey Boy's 10th and final volume comes out, along with most likely Madowanai Hoshi v04. And of course, Fukaboku will continue on a monthly basis during this time.
The only other "ongoing" project is Shounen Oujo, which we've now been working on for exactly 7 years, and yet we only have 5 volumes to show for it because of all of its numerous and lengthy hiatuses, the current one of which began in June 2017. However, the magazine that it was being released in, Comic it, doesn't even exist anymore, not even online, with the website now directing readers to Pixiv Comic, Comic Walker or Niconico Seiga. However, none of those have any indication when, if ever, the series will come back from hiatus, and if you take a look at Utako Yukihiro's Twitter account, she seems to be focusing on her series Kare ni Irai Shite wa Ikemasen, which is not surprising since it seems to be rather popular. In the end, this is our only project that predates 2015, and once Shiomi-chan and Mizutama Honey Boy end next year, it will be our only project that predates 2018. As of right now, we last worked on it way back in September 2016, and nothing would please us more than to finally finish this series someday.
So that's it for 2018. We really don't know what 2019 will bring in terms of new projects, but we're always on the look out for more awesome gender bender-related series, so we'll see what next year may bring our way. But for now, please enjoy the rest of 2018 with these couple releases, and we'll see you all on the other side in 2019 for another gender bender-filled year as we wish all of you a Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteThanks for all the hard work over the years. This group has been too important for all who enjoy reading cross-dressing stories.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have a suggestion.
Senpai wa Kanojo Janai
I wanted to pick it up in the future, but I have no time.
It's about three couples where one is a cross-dresser.
The first couple is the best.
The soory is funny and the art is good.
