No Secrets Among Friends!
In today's double release, the first is some bonus content from Nettaigyo volume 8, which contains a short preview of volume 9, and a couple of other short scenes and color illustrations. As you may have already seen, volume 9 will be the final volume, so we're pretty close to the end of the series now. It should end some time in the next 3-5 months depending on if the chapters are split in half or not. This release also contains chapter 31, but it's only 30 pages.

Beauty is More Than Skin Deep!
Thanks to a recommendation and also providing the raws for it, this is a short one-shot titled Yeah Yeah, You're Cute (original title: Hai Hai, Kawaii ne) by Mebaru Kobato. The main reason for doing it was because this was oddly the only one-shot not done in the Joshi BL anthology, and I had previously done one of the one-shots in it by Fumi Fumiko in her Josou Danshi to Menhera Oji-san series. But the other reason is because it features a cross-dressing plot, so that's always a plus. In the one-shot, Tomo is disgruntled over her trouble in landing a boyfriend, and comes to complain at her brother's gay bar where she meets the standoffish Yuragu. That's about all I can say about it without giving the whole thing away, since it's only 14 pages.

Happy Halloween! It's another year, and we're back for the annual Halloween post to give you another small treat today to go along with what will hopefully be a very sweet day for you. As previously stated, this is actually the second to last of the main chapters, but there are still the final chapter and several bonus chapters to get through before this series is fully complete.

And here is Can a Guy Like Me Be a Maid? chapter 2. Based on the time between chapters 1 and 2, this series appears to be on a roughly biweekly schedule (this chapter actually came out 2 and a half weeks after chapter 1), so we can probably expect two chapters per month.

And These Same Thoughts People This Little World!
And here are Madowanai Hoshi chapters 41 and 42. And I'm not sure I ever mentioned this before, but I'm not just working on this series because I worked on and loved Moyashimon. I also really love astronomy, so working on this series has that added interest for me for the subject matter. The post-apocalyptic mystery aspect was another thing that intrigued me early on about it. Also, I have now released a combined 201 chapters across both of those series, so that's a nice little milestone, and hopefully a testament to my dedication to this series to see it to its eventual end, which does not seem like it will be anytime soon.

Short Summers Lightly Have a Forward Spring!
It's been a long time coming for this one, but here are Madowanai Hoshi chapters 39 and 40 with the start of volume 5. This is still a series I enjoy working on, even though I know not that many people read it, and that it's outside the realm of the usual projects. It was much better working on Moyashimon before since it was already complete, so it's a little more frustrating waiting so long between volumes for this one, but it is what it is. Chapter 39 also includes several color pages at the start for the first time since volume 2.

The Magic to Keep Moving Forward!
Finally, we come to the end of Bokumaho volume 4 with chapter 24. And just in time, because volume 5 comes out on October 16, so this series will once again be continuing shortly.
But of course, this is also a very special day in Hachimitsu Scans's history, because it was exactly 10 years ago that I released the very first release of this scanlation project, Past Future chapter 1. At the time, I was merely trying to give readers like myself who are interested in gender bender-related manga a chance to read more manga from that genre that, at least at the time, was largely sidelined by most groups, and there were really almost no groups who released more than one or two series from that genre, with the exception of Wow!scans that had preceded the creation of this group by a few months, and who I worked with on a few series in the early days.
Since then, I have been privileged to work on some of the best gender bender, cross-dressing, and LGBT-related manga that I have ever read, and even if opinions vary on what makes one series better than another, each and every series I ever worked on I thought was well worth my time and effort to scanlate so as to provide it to a wider audience. Especially in this era now when this type of manga seems to be more prevalent, or at least more accepted by other groups who are willing to work on them, never has there been a better time to be a fan of this sort of niche interest in manga, and I'm glad that I played at least one small part of that.
But it hasn't always been unicorns and rainbows, as much as I would have preferred that at the time. Looking back on it, there are many things that I would have done differently, but that I had to learn the hard way because I'm generally stubborn and like to do things my own way. I will be the first one to admit that my scanlations aren't perfect, and they are in the end a hobby that I have somehow managed to continue for the past 10 years, with most of that time being spent working on at least one chapter from any of the dozens of series and one-shots I've worked on from any of the hundreds of authors I've translated from.
From the longest series I ever worked on like Usotsuki Lily at 18 volumes, and Kuragehime and the Josou Shounen anthologies both at 17 volumes, and also Moyashimon at 13 volumes, to some of the smallest 1 volume series like Hanayome wa Motodanshi, Shounen Princess, and Seito Kaichou desu ga Josou Hajimemashita, I enjoyed struggling through each and every one of them, because I know that there was at least one other person who appreciated them as much as I did, and that, at the end of the day, is the one and only payoff for a scanlator. It's truly a thankless hobby that costs massive time, effort, and money, but it was all worth it, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
So if you liked at least one of the series I scanlated, then I did my part to show you a story that was a little off the beaten path from mainstream manga that gets all the attention and *ahem* anime adaptations. Thanks for taking the time to check out some of those series, and hopefully you'll enjoy my future releases for as long as I am able to continue to do so.

When Cuteness is Your Best Asset!
Today I'd like to announce the pickup of another small series, Can a Guy Like Me Be a Maid? (original title: Konna Boku demo Maid ni Naremasu ka?, or Bokunare for short) by Koshou (Twitter, pixiv). Small in that the chapters will all probably be very short and easy to work on (chapter 1 is only 9 pages). The series just started on Mankai's website, so there's only one chapter right now, and there is no indication as to how often it will update, but I guess I'll assume it's monthly for now. The story is as follows:
Ayaki Sakachiyo is a 15-year-old whose parents recently died in an accident. Unsure of what to do next, he is approached by Rumi Narumi, a woman who had been good friends with Ayaki's mother. She offers to give him a job working for the Fuuonji family, but he must work as a maid because Rumi's young employer, Seina Fuuonji, is extremely afraid of men.
In addition to the first chapter, there were also some character profiles posted to Mankai's Twitter account, which have been included here as chapter 0. So check it out if you want.

Friends Support Each Other!
And here is the latter half of Nettaigyo chapter 29. There will be another chapter next month.
As to whether or not the series may be winding down, I think it is likely that it will continue until at least volume 10, but for all we know, everything up to now could just have been buildup for what is to come later. So, there are no overt indications that it will be ending anytime soon.

The Cuteness of Love!
It's been a couple of months, but here's First Love chapter 11. The raws for this chapter were ripped directly from pixiv comic, so it is entirely monochrome, and are the finished pages as they will appear in what will be the third and final volume, because Kobayashi has confirmed that the series will end with chapter 14.

Kyon-kun Denwa!
And this is that little sister one-shot that was in the Boku no Koto Suki ni Natte volume, featuring Hirokazu's little sister, but Tsubasa also makes an appearance. And that's it for the series. It was fun and nostalgic to revisit it after all these years, and now I can finally put this series to bed.

The Sweet Smell of Love!
Many years ago, I worked on a series of anthologies featuring crossdressers called the Josou Shounen anthologies. One of the series published in those anthologies was called Boku no Koto Suki ni Natte by Naya Minadori, which had 5 installments under that title, in addition to a separate one-shot under the title Restaurendezvous, totaling 6 chapters in all. There was never anything else released for the series in the Josou Shounen anthologies, but the chapters were later compiled and sold in a single volume back in 2013, but I never got hold of the raws for it, so the additional content in the volume was left unscanlated for about 7 years until today.
The reason why is because someone contacted me about the series some time ago, and through them, they were able to provide me with the additional raws that were exclusive to the volume. So this release is chapter 7 of that volume, which was effectively the end of the story, since the only other content in the volume was a short one-shot featuring the main character's sister that had been published in a different, little sister-themed anthology. Overall, it was a pretty cute series, and one of the few to actually get more than one or two installments in Josou Shounen, so it was well worth working on it even after all these years.

A Lily Among the Thorns!
Now for something a little different, or at the very least, lighthearted. For the first brand new project picked up in over a year, here is chapter 1 of I'm the Only One Not Crossdressing!? (original title: Josou Shinai no wa Ore Dake na no ka!?) by Nunu Tanaka. It started serialization in Dengeki Daioh g a few weeks ago, but only just appeared on Niconico Seiga a couple of days ago. The story is as follows:
Naoki Tozawa is adamant in his aim to grow into a man among men, so he decided to go to an all-boys high school with a long history of providing strong and tenacious men for society. However, he is shocked and dismayed when he discovers that after a year of attending the school, many of the students have started coming to school dressed as girls. Rumor has it that the cause of this is a member of the photography club, leading Naoki to confront Ueda, a boy in the club who makes a very convincing girl.
Overall, it seems to be a pretty cute series, and one that is a nice change of pace from many of the other series I have recently been doing that have been more drama-focused in their storytelling (Lazy Guy and First Love not withstanding). Only the one chapter has been released thus far, but it is on a monthly schedule coming out around the middle of the month. It's also a very quick read, since at least the first chapter is pretty short, so check it out if you're looking for something drama-free.

There's a Divinity That Shapes Our Ends!
At long last, after working on this series for exactly a year and a half, Kanojo ni Naritai Kimi to Boku ends with chapter 50. This has been an interesting series to work on, and although it may not have been to the liking of everyone, it still was a worthwhile series that I'm glad to have worked on from start to finish.
Even in Japan, the series doesn't seem to have been all that popular, as only 2 volumes were ever released for the series up to chapter 23, but they launched a crowdfunding campaign (only for people living in Japan, as far as I can tell) that will be active until October 4 to fund the release of the whole series in 4 volumes. What this means is that these 4 volumes would not be available for retail stores, and would only be sold through this campaign.
So I hope you enjoy the end of this series, and we'll see what Umi Takase does after this.
