The Best Way to Go is Ending With a Bang!

At last, after a lot of work, here is the end of Shitei Bouryoku Shoujo Shiomi-chan with the release of chapters 29 and 30, and the first of our projects to end this year. This is also the end of the last project we had picked up back in 2016, thus ending another era in our long history (for a scanlation group at least).

Over the course of this series, it was an enjoyable project especially because it was such a departure from our usual repertoire of dramas, romantic comedies, and slice of life stories since it focused so heavily on the criminal underworld and had a lot of violence and action mixed in with the comedy. It's a shame that it couldn't have gone on longer and gained more popularity, since maybe it could have gotten that elusive anime adaptation someday, but although it seems to have ended prematurely, we still loved the series and Kazurou Inoue's unique style of storytelling.

In other news, we'll be getting back to Giniro no Genders when volume 2 gets released in about a couple of weeks from now.

There's No Time Like the Present!

Shiomi-chan chapters 27 and 28 are done, so we're almost done with just two chapters left to go.

Kill or Be Killed!

Shitei Bouryoku Shoujo Shiomi-chan returns with chapters 25 and 26 at the beginning of the fifth and final volume. It really would have been nice to see this series continue longer so that maybe it could have gotten an anime adaptation, but we hope you still enjoy what the series has left in store this volume.

A Tale of Two Bosses!

Finally, we come to the end of Shiomi-chan volume 4 with chapters 22, 23 and 24. As mentioned at the end of the volume, volume 5 is set to come out later this year, most likely either in November or December. On a semi-unrelated note, given the recent anime adaptation of Back Street Girls, and the somewhat similar premise of turning yakuza men into idols, maybe we can hope for an anime of Shiomi-chan someday. It would be nice, considering that the last and only series Kazurou Inoue had adapted into an anime was Midori Days as those years ago.

Next up, we'll finally be starting on the fifth and final volume of Kami-sama no Ekohiiki.

Try to Beat the Heat!

With the release of Shiomi-chan chapters 10 and 11, volume 2 comes to an end. As shown at the end of the volume, volume 3 will come out later this year, most likely November.

In the meantime, Ookami Shounen v04 came out today, so we'll be starting work on that as soon as it arrives in the next few days. We also haven't forgotten about Nisekoi Boyfriend lovely's single volume, and will be starting on that very soon.

On a side note, we now have over 4 million hits to this blog since its inception back in 2010. Thanks to everyone who comes here and also thanks for all the lovely comments we receive. We really do read every one.

Some Things You Learn the Hard Way!

We're finally back from our three-week long vacation, and today we're finally starting on Shitei Bouryoku Shoujo Shiomi-chan volume 1! The first chapter has been recompiled with the additional content from the volume, and we also have chapter 2 done, too.

A New Lease on an Old Life!

In part to celebrate our 6-year anniversary, we are finally pleased to present the second project we've picked up this month. This is Shitei Bouryoku Shoujo Shiomi-chan (Designated Violent Girl Shiomi-chan) by Kazurou Inoue of Midori Days fame. The manga recently started serialization last May in Shounen Super Sunday (the chapters are also later posted online), so it shouldn't be too long before the first volume comes out in the next couple of months. The story is as follows:

Gen Shiomi, the 56-year-old boss of the Hitotsubashi mob syndicate, must go into hiding to protect his life from potential assassins. He opts to get plastic surgery, only to end up looking like a teenage girl, but he resolves to stay like this until his life is no longer in danger. However, he finds it hard to not be suspicious, but he is saved from being the target of police by a teenage boy named Tatsuya Umemiya. After helping Tatsuya out of some troubles of his own, Gen is forced to enroll into junior high school as "Shiomi Iwao", only to discover that one of his new classmates is Tatsuya.

So this series is great if you're looking for a ridiculous new series. As a side note, the title is a play on shitei boyryokudan, a term used to describe powerful yakuza groups. Also, Iwao comes from an alternative reading of Gen (巌).

Over the past 6 years, we've released over 1,000 chapters across dozens of series, we've had over 800 posts to the blog, and have had over 3.5 million hits to the blog. Not to mention that we've received over $1,300 dollars via donations over the years, which has been a huge help in the buying of almost all of our raws. Not bad for a group essentially started on a whim that's almost exclusively dedicated to gender bender manga.
