The Stars in Secret Influence!

Finally, after a lot of work to finish up this series, we come to the end of Nanashi no Asterism with chapter 23, which also includes some bonus content at the end of the volume with some added details about the characters.

From the very first chapter, this series had a way of pulling you in with long inner monologues detailing the characters' thoughts, something that, although fairly common in manga, was handled very well with this series. It was a lot of fun working on this series and seeing Kina Kobayashi's art style improve and soften as time went on, giving the characters a more gentle appearance later on compared to the earlier chapters. But the characters themselves were also very interesting, especially Kotooka, because for all her faults, she was also the most endearing and the most human.

Some people may have been put off by Asakura wedging himself in between the main love triangle, or even that he forms this relationship with Subaru as time goes on, taking time away from the main three. That was probably one of the reasons as to why the series lost popularity and got cancelled, and if so, it's a shame. Subaru and Asakura put as much into the story as the three girls, and the series just wouldn't have been the same without them. Considering the pacing of the series in the earlier volumes, it was obvious that it was meant to continue for at least another few volumes, and we can only wonder where else this series would have gone had Kobayashi had the opportunity to finish it the way she had originally intended. But Kobayashi definitely has a strong talent as a manga author, and considering this was her debut series, we hope that she comes back soon with a new series.

However, as a surprise bonus, Kobayashi posted a short manga about Subaru and Asakura on Twitter, which she also reposted on pixiv. We translated this, and it's included in a batch also containing a set of Nanashi no Asterism illustrations also from her Twitter account and reposted to pixiv. It's not much, but at least it's something.

And now for a massive update on all of our projects. First of all, we'll be continuing with Moyashimon as usual with v05, as well as finally getting to LiLy v02. The next Seito Kaichou chapter should also be out next week. We also want to get to Nisekoi Boyfriend's sequel volume Nisekoi Boyfriend lovely soon, too. For that reason, it is unlikely we'll get to Shiomi-chan v02 before July, which is also around the time we'll be doing Kami-sama no Ekohiiki v01 which comes out in late June.

After that, we hope that Ookami Shounen v04 will finally be coming out in July, but we really don't know when they plan to release it. Shortly after that should be when Shimanami Tasogare v03 comes out in August, and then Mizutama Honey Boy v07 should be out in October. We're not really sure when Shounen Oujo v06 is gonna come out since that series is so prone to hiatuses, but with any luck, it could be out late this year, maybe November. Similarly, since Kuragehime restarts its serialization next month, we are hoping that means v17 will be out either late this year or early next year, but we have to wait and see if Higashimura's gonna be serializing it monthly or bimonthly. Lastly, Heroine Voice has been conspicuously absent from Comic Rex and Tsukudani's Twitter account since last October, so we're not sure if it's ever coming back.

So we hope you enjoy the end of Nanashi no Asterism, a series that will be dearly missed.

And to Kuragehime fans, good news. The manga is coming back to Kiss in the June 25 issue, but it remains to be seen if it'll be on a monthly or a bimonthly schedule. Hopefully Higashimura has finally decided to finish it so we can end the series after 7 years of working on it.

Be Careful What You Drink!

Today we have Moyashimon chapters 26 and 27.

And in an unrelated note, there's some interesting news today for Kuragehime fans. Akiko Higashimura's Twitter account announced earlier today that her manga Tokyo Tarareba Musume running in Kiss is about to end in the next issue coming out later this month. Naturally, this is great news for us, because Higashimura had put Kuragehime (which also runs in Kiss) on hiatus so she could focus on TTM. So hopefully, Kuragehime will be coming back soon and then we can continue it later this year or early next year.

As for more recent updates, Lily v02 comes out on April 19, and Nanashi no Asterism's fifth and final volume comes out on April 22. In addition, Ataru Yamamoto's 1-volume sequel to Nisekoi Boyfriend comes out on April 10, so we're looking forward to working on that, even if it's just one volume. Beyond that, Shiomi-chan v02 comes out on May 12. And although we were hoping Ookami Shounen v04 would be out by May, it doesn't look like it anymore, but it should still be coming out relatively soon.

Love is All About Second Chances!

Today we are very excited to finally release the first chapter of Ayumi Komura's new series Kami-sama no Ekohiiki (Favoritism of the Gods), which just launched a couple of weeks ago in Margaret. As has been a tradition of ours, we have continued to release manga by Ayumi Komura because of her unique style, which tends to stray away from mainstream shoujo manga, but also because her manga Usotsuki Lily was the biggest reason why Hachimitsu Scans was formed back in 2010.

As such, we have already seen a few of Ayumi Komura's other series like Kenjutsu Komachi, Full Dozer and Mori no Takuma-san, plus a bunch of one-shots we've done of hers, most recently Alice in January. And although we were secretly hoping she would turn Alice into a series as she had done with Usolily, which also originally began as a one-shot, we were still committed to pick up Kami-sama no Ekohiiki to see what Ayumi Komura had in store for us next, and suffice it to say, we were not disappointed in the least. Because for the first time since the end of Usolily back in 2014, Ayumi Komura has decided to produce another gender bender series! So without further ado, the story of Kami-sama no Ekohiiki is as follows:

To gain the confidence to confess his love to his crush, high school student Yashiro visits a secluded shrine for 100 days straight. This earns him the attention of the enshrined deity and his fox attendant Ukon who follow Yashiro on the 100th day to see how the confession turns out. However, they are surprised to see him confess to a guy, Yashiro's longtime friend Kenta, only for Kenta to turn him down. Although heartbroken, Yashiro tries to joke around with Kenta, but he accidentally gets killed when a truck runs into him.

Yashiro awakens in the presence of the shrine's god and Ukon, and as a show of gratitude, the god decides to restore him back to life to give him a second chance with Kenta. In doing so, the god grants his wish to be reborn as a high school girl and gives her the name Kagura Tendou. However, she soon discovers that the god and Ukon plan to watch over her relationship with Kenta, although she's the only one who can see and hear them.

In all the years that we've been doing gender bender series, we've actually only done a magical genderswap once before when we did Hana wa Nisemono, although a large part of that has to do with either a certain manga not interesting us, or it being picked up by another group already, which from what we've seen tends to happen a lot as with series like Boku Girl or Shishunki Bitter Change. But now we finally get a chance to do a genderswap series from one of our favorite authors, so we couldn't be more pleased.

As we have done in the past, we are going to wait until the first volume is released to continue the series, which should be out by either July or August. So please check out chapter 1 for the start of another great series by Ayumi Komura.

The Little Things in Life Make It All Worthwhile!

Every so often, a series comes around that begs to be released in English, but for whatever reason, never really materialized, at least not in its entirety. A series will lie abandoned for years, with fans of the series just waiting around for someone to pick it up, hoping beyond all hope that it will get an English release someday, and Moyashimon by Masayuki Ishikawa was just one of those series. Despite it having an official release by Del Rey Manga years ago which only saw the first two volumes released, and even a scanlation that also saw the release of the first two volumes, the series has been neglected for years...until now.

Yes, we have decided to pick up Masayuki Ishikawa's masterpiece Moyashimon with the very real intention to complete all 13 volumes. This decision is by no means lightly taken, as this will amount to a vast amount of time and money to finally bring about a completed English version of Moyashimon. But we are absolutely dedicated to that end, and as a show of it, we are very pleased to present the first five chapters for your reading pleasure. And although perhaps this is a series that requires no introduction, having already had two anime adaptations and a live-action drama series adaptation, here's a short summary:

Tadayasu Sawaki has just enrolled into an agricultural university in Tokyo with his long-time friend Kei Yuuki. Although not widely known outside of his friends and family, Tadayasu has the unique ability to see and communicate with microbes, which appear larger and look different to him than normal. This catches the attention of Keizou Itsuki, a professor at the university and an old friend of Tadayasu's grandfather who specializes in microbiology and fermentation. Thus begins Tadayasu's tutelage under Professor Itsuki, aided by his graduate student Haruka Hasegawa, as he attempts to adjust to his new life at the university.

There are a few things that make this manga unlike really anything we've done before. The most obvious is that the chapters in the volumes have retained all of the extra content as when they were originally published in Evening (and later Morning two). This means all of the character bios are in the margins, including the bios for the microbes which identify the various species shown in every chapter. But this also includes all of the editorial comments, recap summaries, advertisements, author comments, and also the fact that every chapter title page has retained the series' title. This means that a huge amount of extra work goes into each chapter, which is one of the things that make this series so challenging to work on.

Speaking of challenging, there was an extremely labor-intensive double page spread in chapter 1 that shows a large portion of the university in the story. This shows a before and after image with all of the overtext, and this shows a before and after image with all of the overtext removed. Suffice it to say, it was insane, but we're pleased with the end result. So pleased that we have also included the version without the overtext in the release of chapter 1 so that you can actually see the school and appreciate all the work that went into it, as well as appreciate Ishikawa's amazing attention to detail, which is one of the things that make this series so amazing.

And there was also one other odd thing about this series. It was originally titled Noudai Monogatari (Tales of an Agricultural University), which is the title that can be seen on the title page of chapter 1. This was changed in chapter 2 to Noudai Monogatari Moyashimon, and then changed again to just simply Moyashimon in chapter 3. Then finally the Moyashimon logo was redesigned in chapter 5, and this is the design which is used for the rest of the series.

So without further ado, we hope you enjoy this truly one of a kind series.

Cross-dressing for the One You Love!

With the release of Josou Danshi to Menhera Oji-san chapters 3, 4 and 5, the series is already over. As is the case with Fumiko Fumi, her manga are very easy to scanlate, hence why we got this done so quickly. It's a shame that it was only one volume, especially since we've been waiting for a new Fumi manga to work on for a while now, but considering her interest in writing manga that deal with cross-dressing, we hope that it's not too long before she can write another one, because this one was far too short for its own good.

Cross-dressing Can Save Lives!

Today we are happy to present the first two chapters of Josou Danshi to Menhera Oji-san (The Cross-dresser and the Man with Mental Illness) by Fumiko Fumi, a one-volume yaoi series that was recently released. We've had our eye on it since we saw it start serialization last May, and although it's only one volume, we're happy that we get to work on another Fumiko Fumi series for the first time in a year since Bokura no Hentai ended. The story is as follows:

Shun Hayasaka is a cross-dresser in high school who secretly enjoys posting pictures of himself in drag online. This earns him several fans, one of whom is Yasuda, a 32-year-old man suffering from depression who has trouble communicating with others. After they meet up in real life and start having sex on a regular basis, Shun is unsure what to do when Yasuda starts expressing more interest in him than just as a sexual partner.

Something interesting about this series is that the first chapter was originally published in the Joshi BL anthology as a one-shot, so the first chapter is kind of different compared to the rest of the series. So please check it out if you're a fan of Fumiko Fumi or are just looking for a short yaoi series with some cross-dressing.

You Can't Choose Your Family!

Although it was a pretty quick volume this time, we're finally at the end of Mizutama Honey Boy volume 6 with the release of the two special chapters. As mentioned at the end of the volume, volume 7 is not expected to come out until the fall, so probably October. But, considering the pacing of the series and the recent developments, we're guessing that the series will probably only have a couple more volumes, but we really don't know.

As for our other projects, the only series that have a definitive release date for their next volumes are LiLy v02 coming out on April 19 and Shiomi-chan v02 on May 12. However, we still expect Nanashi no Asterism v05 and Ookami Shounen v04 to come out pretty soon, probably at least by May. Other series like Shounen Oujo or Shimanami Tasogare are not expected to get new volumes until later on in the year. And of course, Heroine Voice and Kuragehime are still on hiatus.

We're not planning on taking another break anytime soon, though.

Cross-dressing and Cuteness Go Hand In Hand!

With the release of LiLy chapters 7, 8 and 9, we now come to the end of volume 1. So we hope you enjoyed volume 1, and that you'll be back for more with volume 2.

In other news, as mentioned a few weeks ago, the next volumes that are to come out are Mizutama Honey Boy v06 on February 3 and Shitei Bouryoku Shoujo Shiomi-chan v01 on February 10, so we'll be working on those as soon as they arrive.
