In This Life We've Walked Together

Finally, after a lot of work over the past month, we've finished Kakukaku Shikajika volume 4 with the release of chapter 28. This is by no means an easy manga to scanlate, but it also very gratifying that we can share this amazing story with people who can't read Japanese. Although, certain things do get lost in translation, most notably the way Hidaka-sensei talks with a Western Japanese accent (which doesn't appear to be Kyushu dialect) that adds a lot to his character.

Anyway, it appears that the next volume may be the last one, considering the pacing so far, and if that's the case, it should wrap up by early next year. Currently, the manga is up to chapter 29 released last month (it had no chapter this month). So volume 5 shouldn't come out until March or April at the earliest. Hopefully the wait won't be too bad, and in the meantime, we'll be working on Kuragehime v14 very soon starting next month.

  1. Thank you so much. I really love the way she writes about herself and sensei, and I think you are doing a wonderful job!

  2. I really should say this more often considering how much I enjoy the mangas that you translate, but thank you very much. Kakukaku Shikajika has been a really touching story (though I am pretty worried about a tear-inducing end). Can't wait for kuragehime to start back up!

  4. This manga brings up so many memories, and I'm always crying when I read it. I don't know why I keep coming back to it, if it's like that.

That's not really true. The same reasons I don't want to read are why I keep reading.

I guess what I'm saying that if it's not easy to read, I can't expect it to be easy to scanslate. So thank you, thank you for all your hard work and sharing it with us.

  5. Thanks for working on this series, it's one of those that shows a different side of manga to the stuff that gets licensed, and it's looking like that last volume is going to be a real tear-jerker.

  6. Damn it, life! God damn it.

It's such an unfair hit as always.

Thanks for your work, Hachimitsu Scans. Where would I get all these feels without you.

  8. Thank you so much! I just caught up on the releases. The end of volume 4 was heartbreaking. The wait for volume 5 will be hard. Fortunately, there's also Kuragehime!

  9. Thank you so much for scanlating this series. The Hachimitsu team has done such wonderful, quality work here. This manga kept bringing tears to my eyes. I sort of understand what the other commentator meant when she said it brought back memories...even though there's absolutely nothing similar about Higashimura-sensei's background and mine (except for studying fine art), there's just something about the story that evokes nostalgia and regret for one's foolish past...

Thanks for the note about Hidaka-sensei's accent too, that was interesting.

Keep it up guys, I love your work!
