To End is to Live!
After a little over 3 and a half months of working on this series, Okama Hakusho finally comes to an end with chapters 59, 60 and 61. The end of the volume also includes a short essay by psychiatrist and friend of Hideo Yamamoto, Yasufumi Nakoshi.
Thus completes one of our longest projects to date, and for its length, one of the fastest from start to finish. That was mainly due to it being relatively easy to work on, even if it had a good amount of difficulties to overcome. This was actually kind of a surprise project for us, since we weren't looking to pick it up when we did, but it just ended up turning out that way. Sometimes you can't predict when a series will drop in your lap when you're a scanlator, but at least for this series, it was a lot of fun to work on.
This was a type of series we have seldom encountered and it will stand as one of the most unique series we have done. Not only because of its age, 27 years old, but also because of Hideo Yamamoto's particular style. There certainly are some controversial elements in this manga, and it may not be for everyone, but we believe that Yamamoto completed what he set out to do: create a gender bender manga the likes of which had never been seen before and will never be seen again.
